Rotation Project AnnouncementJune 15, 2007
Available immediately, we have data from a large mouse intercross, the "Collaborative Cross". Data on gene expression and various clinical responses will be used to construct a statistical model for the interrelationships of these factors. We propose to use "structural equation models", a method that has been available for many years, but only recently used on genetic/metabolic networks. The specific application deals with adipose tissue metabolism. Interested students must have taken one year of statistics, and should contact either Arnold Saxton or Brynn Voy
Two GST Students Receive Prestigious AwardsApril 13, 2007
Please congratulate Alon Savidor and Rachel Lynch, Ph.D. candidates with the UT-ORNL Genome Science and Technology Program, who recently received UT Graduate Student Awards. Alon is the receipient of the the Science Alliance award and Rachel is the receipient of the Alexander Hollaender award.
GST Student and Mentors Co-Authors on Science PaperSeptember 6, 2006
Alon Savidor, a Ph.D. candidate with the UT-ORNL Genome Science and Technology Program, is listed among the co-authors of a paper in today's issue of SCIENCE. The paper compares the complete genome sequences of two major plant pathogens: sudden oak death and soybean root rot disease. Kurt Lamour, assistant professor of plant pathology, and ORNL's Hayes McDonald are Savidor's mentors. They, too, are among the co-authors.
