Keywords:
Genetics of chromosome pairing & recombination; sperm development, and chromosome structure
Research Area:
My research interests are in the general areas of genetics of chromosome pairing and recombination, sperm development, and chromosome structure, using Drosophila as a model system.
Description of Research:
(1) Identification of chromosome pairing sites and analysis of the mechanism of chromosome pairing in Drosophila males. (2) Cloning and molecular/genetic analysis of members of the recA (strandtransfer) and mutL (mismatch repair) gene families in Drosophila, with special interest in understanding the roles of these genes in meiosis. (3) Analyzing the mechanism of recombinational suppression in repeated gene families. (4) Exploring the link between chromosome pairing and sperm development in Drosophila
